2. PUPPY BASIC MANNERS

Picturepup2Distractions are everywhere in life, especially for a growing curious puppy. Learning to communicate with your dog in a fun and rewarding manner, teaching him to focus on you more will further enhance your relationship with your dog.

This class is focused on building manners and behavioral obedience. Not only will we go through the basic behaviors, but also dive straight into intermediate obedience by proofing them with high level distractions and various real life contexts, to give you and your dog the right practice.

 

Who should enroll

  1. First time puppy owner
  2. Puppy Pre-School Graduate
  3. Puppies from 8-16 weeks old

Pre-requisite

  1. Must have at least 1 DHLPP or DHPP vaccination (against distemper, parvovirus, kennel cough etc)
  2. Healthy
  3. Free from parasites

Obedience

  • Recall (come when called)
  • Leave it

  • Eye Contact
  • Loose leash walking

  • Wait

Life skills

  • Impulse control
  • Active attention
  • Controlling over excitement
  • Human greetings
  • Dog to dog greetings
  • How to use life reward
  • Understanding barking
  • Independence training
  • Grooming, Handling and Restraint
  • Resource guarding prevention (like things being taken away from them)
  • How to target fear
  • Understanding what’s play and bullying
  • Understanding canine body language
  • Play biting
  • Counter surfing prevention
  • Anti-jumping
  • Chewing

You’ll be provided with

  • Clicker training tool
  • Training handouts for reference
  • Similar size and age peers to facilitate proper play
  • Small class size – no more than 4-5 dogs
